Randy Gene
Moss, born on 13th February 1977, is an ex-American footballer. He was a player
in the National Football League (NFL) for 14 years with the Minnesota Vikings,
Oakland Raiders, New England Patriots, Tennessee Titans, and the San Francisco
49ers. Alongside Jerry Rice, he is often regarded as the best wide receiver
ever. Moss holds the NFL single year touchdown record (23 in 2007), and the
rookie NFL single season touchdown reception mark (17 in 1998). Moss is 2nd in the
NFL all time regular seasons touchdown receptions with 156. Moss was well-known
for his skill in securing an elusive catch and "mossed" is now a term
used in football. Following his time in football Moss began his career as a
studio announcer at ESPN for the Sunday NFL Countdown program and Monday Night
Countdown. Moss was born in Rand, West Virginia. He was a student at DuPont
High School, one of two schools eventually merged into Riverside High School,
where he was a star in football, basketball baseball, track and field. Randy
was also a part of the school's debate team. Moss was a DuPont Panthers'
football player that led them to back-to-back states championships in 1992 and
1993. His most prominent position was wide receiver. However, he also played free
safety as well as punted kickoffs and was the team's punter as well as kicker.
He was awarded the Kennedy Award in 1994 as West Virginia's Football Player of
the Year. Parade magazine named him to their All-American high-school football
teams in 1995. In 2009 they named him one of the top 50 high school footballers
of all time.
